Holidays in Tignes this summer: all the things to know before you go

Why should you choose the resort of Tignes as your destination for the summer of 2021? Magnificent Savoyard resort, Tignes is the ideal place to spend holidays with family, friends or lovers. Whether it's a week or two weeks, you will always find an activity to do among the wide choice offered by the resort. You can also organize your own activities such as hiking in the mountains.

1) Lake Tignes
In the heart of Tignes le Lac, Lake Tignes is perfect for a family stroll along the banks. With its light blue color, it is also a good place to take pictures and keep memories of good times. You can even take pictures of yourself in front of the #tignes to highlight the resort. Many activities are also offered on and around the lake such as pedal boats, paddle boards, kayaking, acroland, tennis, table tennis ... A real paradise!
2) Lake Chevril
An artificial lake since 1950, the Lac du Chevril covers the old village of Tignes. It is located 1800 meters above sea level and is just a few kilometers from the Italian border. It is a must-see site for passing tourists. Note that every 10 years, the EDF company performs a complete emptying of the lake to inspect the dam. It is therefore possible to observe the traces of the old Tignes, in particular the old church.

Savoyard specialties such as raclette (not really adapted to the season but it's always a pleasure!), Crozets (small square pasta prepared with wheat flour and buckwheat and served with cream and cheese), local cheeses (tome de Savoie, Beaufort, abundance ...). On the sweet side, we find the delicious traditional blueberry tart, the Savoy cake (without fat and therefore very light) and to finish the rissoles (turnover stuffed with apple, pear or quince). All these local products are of course to be found in the various shops of Tignes Val Claret and Tignes le Lac, in particular at the dairy cooperative of Haute Tarentaise and at the Grange.
> Hiking in the mountains
Did you know that there are a total of 400 km of hiking trails open in summer? From the most difficult for enthusiasts to the simplest for families. A beautiful hike to the Col de Fresse at 2576 meters to get away from it all and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Or to the Aiguille Percée (the climb is worth it!). You will understand that many tourists come to Tignes to explore the mountains.

In times of health crisis, the mountain suffers greatly from the lack of French and foreign tourists. Travel abroad being difficult, it is better to favor tourism in France and in the Alps. All traders go to great lengths to stay open and hang in there, but they more than need you. So, we are counting on you to come to Tignes this summer!
